Shirt Dress Upcycle, Revamp, Recycle
I went to my local thrift store and picked up a cute denim skirt and a cute plaid shirt dress size 8
slightly bigger than what my daughter wears but she hates to wear anything too tight unless they are her leggings. I found a great a great deal on the skirt it was half off ended up paying $2 and same for the dress $3. My daughter is not a fan of denim skirts yet. Comfort is the name of her game along with anything that has to do with animals. Here are the original pieces

I started deconstructing the skirt. I cut off what I wanted to use and left enough of an edge to turn
back to clean finish the edge on the denim. Cut the pocket bag out leave the pocket bag facing on the pocket
to give it a nice clean finish on that seam.

Before placing and pinning the denim pieces. Find a book or a piece of cardboard in-between
the two layers of the dress so you don't pin the back and front together.
Then move to placing the panels on the dress wherever you like. I wanted to use the pocket opening on the denim pieces on the dress so they will be functional. I like that the dress has a plaid it made it
really easy to place pocket ant the same height and I started the denim tipsiest on the side seam.
I pinned the pieces in place.

I also wanted denim detail in the back of the dress so I cut our the pockets from the back of the skirt. I pinned them into place.

Time to head to the sewing machine. Remember to use a thicker needle for sewing denim.
I used navy thread in top and in the bobbin. You also need to watch out for the hardware so you needle does not break and go flying.

Make sure on the back pockets you straight stitch on both sides of the rivets/hardware
so if she uses the pockets it is alit stronger. If you are concerned about the self body material being too thin place 1x1" facing on the backside to reinforce your stitches.
Here is the finished product. It is a bigger size than what my daughter wears...this way it will last a couple years and she loves the comfort.

Pinner Conference

I attended the Pinners Conference last week. I loved the the Pinners sent me a code to enter the expo for free just to buy. What a fun event. There were many opportunities to take classes that relate
to things you might have pinned on your Pintrest boards.
There were also many different types of businesses selling their wares.
This is a great venue for an upstart business to exhibit. I plan on attending this next go around with my business. Many vendors are offering show deals.
It was a great opportunity for inspiration. Here are a couple photos for your enjoyment!

Rapunzel Theme Birthday

My daughters 4th birthday and she has two loves
Rapunzel and My Little Pony. She has requested a Rapunzel
theme birthday.
Here is her invitation- I have included a blank invitation in my downloadable link

I have found the perfect venue it is nearby at a farm they have little areas for rent it is inexpensive and I am excited.

We will start with the party favors for the guests
the girls will get braids and the boys Ruffian hats

I found the ruffian hats online I was able to buy them in a pack of 12
The braids I bought two different colors of yellow.
I would like each braid to be about 2 1/2 feet long.
The cats had a great time with this....

it took about one skein for one braid. It is easier with two people
if you don't have another person to help tie it to a chair or an object that won't move.
I used two chairs and set them about 2 feet apart and started at one chair
and went around the other chair with a single strand until I had the thickness I liked.
I tied the thickness together with a separate string really tight making a couple passes.
then cut the yarn a couple inches above the tie off. Then added ribbon and started to braid.
After the braids are finished we glued flowers we got from the dollar store.
I downloaded and printed off coloring sheets for the kids to do at the beginning of the party.

I have created labels and the Snuggly Duckling, wanted posters, sign which you can download
in the downloadable links.

 the guest favors

Here are some great examples of the food.....

I hired the best Rapunzel in the valley
she was amazing she sang and interacted with the kids
everyone had a great time at the party
